Today I watched a pair of little girls
Wash a pair of little puppies
Little hands grasping little paws
And the level delight, mixed with the level of dedication
– On the part of the of little girls –
Was only matched
By the level of astonishment mixed the level of stoicism
– On the part of the little puppies-
How often does life treat us the same?
Suddenly, with no warning, drenching us
In a cold bath of unexpected, of unrequested
misery
But then, as soon as it begun,
It ends by wrapping us in a fluffy towel
Complete with little girl snuggles.
