Don’t ask yourself what the world Needs;
ask yourself what makes you come alive.
And then go do that because the world needs people who have come alive.
– Dr. Howard Thurman
This quote sums up how it is that I’m trying to live- alive in each moment.
Living this way has brought me many different places over the past five years – NYC, Honduras, Bolivia, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, and now Ecuador. I didnt know that this was going to be my journey when i set out after school. People sometimes ask how i manage have such an exciting life. Its funny, when you’re living it, it doesnt always feel that way. Its still filled with average, dull moments that everyone has – washing dishes, sitting in traffic, paying the credit card bill- but then when i step back and look at the big picture i see God drawing out a path for me. Its often not clear in the moment, but its always there.
My hope for this blog is to share with you a bit of the wonder of life, that its not about the destination, because in this life we never really ‘arrive.’ But rather, i’m in for the love of the journey. And this is what i hope to share with you, so that you can take it and discover how much you love your own journey.
and mostly i write this blog for myself, to be able to remember the journey. The moments in which i feel most alive.
When I first came up with the title for this blog, a friend protested saying “but you arent and aimless wanderer, you have purpose in what you’re doing”. And its true. I do seek to live my life with purpose. So i respond with one final quote from Tolkien:
“not all who wander are lost…”
