One of the things I have come to really love about Buenos Aires is the proliferation of fantastic bakeries all over the city. And so it was sort of pathetic that it took me over 5 months to realize that there was one just one block away from me, but, then i more than made up for it. They sell fresh bread, media lunas (argentine croissants) and enough pastries with dulce de leche (sort of like caramel) to make you choke.
So somehow at school it became the tradition that when it was your birthday, you had to bring in some sort of sweet to share with the whole class. So as soon as I saw these little guys, i fell in love. They were just so darn cute!
but dont be deceived by that that sweet little face, its just a thin layer of chocolate, hiding a whole sticky tablespoon of gooey dulce de leche…
So then i shared some with my roommate, who is from Colombia, and her response was, “awww, que lindo negritos!” ha, so political correctness hasnt quite made it here yet….
